"Whether you're new or seasoned in the healthcare environment, one of the first things you want to ensure is that you're looking at your life safety systems, and that's generally all tied around your electrical distribution… Without power, nothing else in healthcare happens." - Rod Allen, Director of Plant Operations for Lee Memorial Health System
Meet our panel:
George Baker
Senior System Engineer (retired) Wellspan
As a degreed electrical engineer, I began my professional career 45 years ago automating production equipment in the steel and commercial printing industries. I began my career in healthcare 22 years ago as the Director of Engineering at York Hospital in York, PA. Over the next several years, York Hospital grew into WellSpan Health, an 8-hospital healthcare system. My responsibilities included daily engineering operations as well as startup and oversight of the capital infrastructure equipment replacement program across the 8 hospitals. Eventually, I left daily operations to focus solely on infrastructure equipment as the Sr. System Engineer. This focus included the installation of 6 PowerSecure microgrid systems across WellSpan.
